UK National Service Framework for Diabetes |
The UK National Service Framework (NSF) for Diabetes places prevention of type 2 diabetics and identification of the large number of people with undiagnosed diabetes as key objectives:
"Standard 1: Prevention of Type 2 diabetes
The NHS will develop, implement and monitor strategies to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes in the population as a whole and to reduce the inequalities in the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes."
"Standard 2: Identification of people with diabetes
The NHS will develop, implement and monitor strategies to identify
people who do not know they have diabetes."

Government Campaign: "Small Steps. Big Rewards. Prevent Type 2 Diabetes." |
The "Small Steps. Big Rewards. Prevent type 2 Diabetes." campaign is the first-ever national diabetes prevention campaign in the US. The aim of the campaign is to identify and treat Americans with pre-diabetes, preventing the development of type 2 diabetes.

International Diabetes Federation: Pre-Diabetes Figures |
MORE than 300 million people are currently at risk of developing diabetes according to a new report published in the Diabetes Atlas, released by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) at a press conference today. Some 314 million people worldwide, or 8.2% in the adult population, are estimated to have impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), a state which often precedes diabetes. IGT is another name for pre-diabetes. |
